Kentucky Wool Festival
The Kentucky Wool Festival, October 2 - 4, 2009, is a family oriented event offering an array of homemade arts and crafts. There are always over 130 craft booths.
There is a variety of heritage demonstrations going on for the three day event including: sheep shearing, weaving, spinning, knitting, sorghum making, blacksmithing, leather works, corn grinding, candle making, broom making, pottery making, jewelry making, stone carving and quilting. Visit the pioneer area and watch as they make homemade apple butter. There are over 30 food booths offering mouth watering foods.
Two stages bring continuous live entertainment all three days featuring country, folk, gospel and bluegrass bands. Come watch the clogging and square dancing groups that visit the festival.
The festival has a huge petting zoo, miniature animals, pony rides, goat milking and working herd dogs. Once you have visited the festival you will want to come back!
Festival dates for the 2009 season are Friday, October 2, Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. Times for the festival are Friday and Saturday, 10-10 and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
The festival grounds are located on Caddo Road just off KY Hwy. 159, beside Kincaid Lake State Park. From Lexington take U.S. 27 north to Falmouth. Turn right at caution light on to Highway 22 E. Follow Highway 22 (Main St.) through downtown. Go thru red light. At stop sign, turn right. Turn left at caution light. Located 5 miles on right. Signs will be posted.
